EFFICIENCY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
The RYNO is a revolutionary tool that allows maintenance personnel to safely and easily remove sealants, elastomeric coatings, rain erosion boots, and polyurethane protective tape without damage to metallic or composite surfaces.
The RYNO's patented technology for coating removal is the first in adapting advanced tooling with existing equipment commonly found within aerospace maintenance facilities. The RYNO is capable of interfacing an advanced designed polymer scraper with a metallic mandrel adaptable to common pneumatic impact “rivet” guns. This eliminates the need for customers to invest in proprietary power tooling and their associated repair and maintenance costs.

PROVIDING A SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER RESULT
Traditionally, hazardous chemicals are used to chemically strip off the protective boot and subsequent adhesive layers.
However, this process takes over 8 hours to complete.
1. SAVES TIME
The RYNO tool required 2-3hrs to remove the boot, 6 hours less than the conventional method.
2. SAVES LABOR
The RYNO resulted in a 75% labor savings in removal over traditional methods (hand scraping or sanding).
3. SAVES RISK
The RYNO removes the risk of chemicals damaging the composite substrate.
Additionally, no hazardous waste was generated (chemicals, rinse water, rags, etc.), making the boot removal process safer by eliminating hazardous chemicals and exposure.
ALL OF THE WAYS TO USE THE RYNO TOOL
Replace traditional methods of scraping and chemicals
The RYNO (using a phenolic blade) was used to remove the nose radome boot on a P-8A aircraft. Traditionally, hazardous chemical (Toluene) are used to chemically strip off the protective boot and subsequent adhesive layers. However, this process takes over 8hrs to complete. The RYNO tool required only 2-3hrs to remove the boot, a savings of 6 man hours. Additionally, no hazardous waste was generated (chemicals, rinse water, rags, etc.).
Remove aged sealant build-up
The RYNO tool with a torlon blade was used to remove a large build-up of aged polysulfide sealant around a F/A-18 windscreen. Use of the tool resulted in 3-5x's the time savings over traditional sealant removal.
Remove coatings
The RYNO tool removed the following coatings from both aluminum (7075 Aluminum Sheet) and carbon fiber/epoxy solid laminate (BMS 8-212 TY 4, CL 2, STYLE 3K-70-PW)
AMS 3276 (AC 350 B-2)
MIL-PRF-81733 (PPG 1436G TY III-1, Cl 1, Grade A)
MMS-443 (PPG PR-2460)
THE RESULTS ARE IN
The RYNO has been successfully demonstrated across multiple naval aviation maintenance facilities and proven effective for the removal of aerospace sealants, elastomeric coatings, and polyurethane protective tapes. As a result of these successful demonstrations, national stock numbers (NSN) have been established by GSA for federal procurement of the RYNO tool, adapter, and advanced polymeric cutting blades. The final transition is in planning to include the RYNO as a new tool for naval aviation's corrosion control program through a future update of the NA 01-1A-509 general series manual.
The RYNO is approved by the FRCSE (Fleet Readiness Center South East) for repairing and removing polyurethane rain erosion boots from Navy P-8A nose radomes.
